The Excitement Of FIFA 11

I’m not ashamed to admit that the release of a new FIFA game is one of my most highly-awaited moments of every year. It just is and there’s no denying it.

Kaka and Rooney on the FIFA 11 cover

FIFA is by far and a way my favourite game, and the only game I will play almost continually for a year, until I buy the next one and play that almost continually.

I’m not much of a “gamer”, I know very little about the gaming world and I only play a handful of games but this doesn’t stop FIFA’s release being a landmark event.

It’s the one game which I think draws in everyone with any interest in football. (For the purposes of balance, I’ll add that Pro Evo can have the same effect, but the majority of people I know will buy FIFA rather than Pro Evo.)

As I realise this looks like an advertising campaign on behalf of FIFA, almost as if they’ve sponsored me to do it, (They haven’t) I will add one little criticism. Being a United fan I love Wayne Rooney, but seriously, every year?!

It would be nice if FIFA started rotating it’s cover stars again. My personal favourite cover was FIFA 03 which had Edgar Davids, Roberto Carlos and Ryan Giggs – a great cover.

Why not for FIFA 12 have Andres Iniesta, Lucio and Dimitar Berbatov? Obviously, I’m biased there since it’s 3 of my favourite players but you can see my point.

Should this be Rooney's last year on the cover?

Aside from that slight criticism, I’m looking forward to the new features in this year’s game.

Be-A-Keeper mode looks like it could be very interesting or pretty boring, so I’m hoping for the former.

Creation Centre will come in very handy for creating Partick Thistle in FIFA, something that will give me a shameful amount of pleasure.

And just generally getting online to play some clubs matches on the new game with my team, they know who they are!

We always put in a good effort.
